Our School - Principal's message

Welcome to Euroa Primary School.

Our school vision is to ‘prepare young people to actively participate in the learning and social environment around them. We aim to equip students with skills and knowledge that will allow them to excel in an ever changing 21st century. We want them to be inquisitive, resilient and mindful members of the community”.

Our school motto is ‘Working Together’.

This year, we have started to begin implementing the three big ideas of a Professional Learning Community as way of ensuring that our students are equipped to learn at high levels. The three big ideas are:

1. We believe that all students can learn at high levels.

2. To ensure that all students learn at high levels, staff work collaboratively. Collaborative Teams work together to clarify the following four key questions:

  • What is it that we want our students to learn? (Focus on the Learning Intentions & Success Criterion)
  • How do we know if our students are learning? (Focus on assessment)
  • How will we respond when students do not learn? (Focus on instruction and intervention)
  • How will we enrich and extend the learning of students who are proficient? (Focus on intervention and enrichment)

3. In order to know if students are learning and to respond to their needs, we have a strong focus on results (Focus on SMART goals)

The school provides a curriculum with a strong emphasis on English and Mathematics, integrated with an Enquiry Unit (usually one per term). The school has a tiered approach to Intervention (Response to Intervention ), providing additional support for students requiring extra time to consolidate the Learning Intention & Success Criteria and for students requiring enrichment. Teaching practices across the school are informed by evidence based strategies, which are known to have a high impact on student learning. These include the research of Marzano, DuFour and the High Impact Teaching Strategies. Professional Learning is an integral part of the operation of the school, ensuring our teachers are maintaining their high quality programs.

The core curriculum is complemented by Specialist Programs in Visual Art, Physical Education, Digital Technology, STEM, Performing Arts and Japanese. In addition, we also offer an extensive extracurricular program including writing enrichment, instrumental music, swimming, interschool sport, buddy program across the school & local Kindergartens, an extensive leadership program for the Year Five & Six students, including Peer Mediation, Junior School Council and a range of lunchtime activities.

Our school holds a strong emphasis on being active members of the community. We value local persons and organisations visiting us in our school and also enjoy visiting places nearby. In 2022, we have ‘Worked Together’ with: Our local Mayor, Police, CFA Junior Running Club, Euroa Hockey Club, Euroa Golf Club, Bluearth, Euroa Cricket Club, Euroa Secondary College, GoodStart Early Learning, Euroa Kindergarten, Euroa Junior Football Club, Ready-Net-Go!, Strathbogie Shire, GV Water, Goulburn Valley Library (Euroa Branch), and more!

Euroa Primary School provides a quality learning culture that is orderly, safe, secure and inclusive. This culture is strongly influenced by the school’s values which focus on the rights and responsibilities of students, staff and parents. Our EPS Values are Effort – Unity – Order – Respect – Achievement. We hold weekly student-led assemblies, where our 4 houses (Hollows, Dunlop, Gilmore and Chisholm) are awarded green-token points in recognition of displaying our values. The Student Engagement and Wellbeing Policy underpins the management and teaching practices at Euroa Primary School.
